Depending on what you mean by "doomed". It's certainly well on it's way to being much less democratic, and therefore much less responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens. It will probably remain in the gridlock we've seen recently for a number of election cycles. Because we can't agree on what sort of society we want to live on, other countries will overtake us economically and socially. If that's what you mean by doomed, yep, we're doomed.

These reich wingers are nutjobs. They are only getting worse over time. They pretend like they are the "moral majority," but seem to be the ones blowing up medical clinics, burning them, shooting politicians, as well as doctors, murdering their own girlfriend's family while running for sheriff and then committing suicide, purging legal voters from the roles in order to pad their election results with the bigoted issue voters. They are failing. They have been on the wrong side of history since history began.

The fact that they think Obama is a Marxist just proves how absurdly racist they are. They can't even judge his policies at all. The fact that he is a slightly liberal politician who is not white makes him the absolute enemy. He hasn't done much beyond what Clinton tried to do, and some less in many ways, yet they seemed to approve of Bill much more...even after his scandal.

The media enjoys the mud slinging and name calling to try and do something about the ads. Fear tactics and shit talking is what drives ratings. The election is a popularity contest but the people take that to seriously. They read into those ads whole heartedly instead of actually finding out about the people they are voting for.
