p******** is blocked because the US government has:
(i) zero sense of humour and
(ii) an unsurprisingly insular arrogance.
Therefore anybody using the word p******** just must be talking about their fucking p********, and anybody saying anything in jest or in frustration will be interpreted as being serious.
So unfortunately sites like motherless find it easier to block the word than put up with the shitstorm should comments get taken completely (and I'd argue intentionally) out of context.
Fortunately "insincere dickwad" isn't censored, so we've got a good alternative phrase for the foreseeable future.
