I've been watching a lot of 1970's and 80's porn lately. At first it was just for kitsch value, but I came to an unexpected conclusion: they were better movies. Perhaps not better porn, but the acting and writing seemed far better in comparison to contemporary porno films. Am I wrong Motherless? If not, what happened? Where's the beef?

They HAD to. They needed to have the appearance of a real movie to combat censorship and possible arrest. Deep Throat is the pinnacle of their attempts at legitimacy.
They had to? Interesting. I think I actually like it better. I know most porn today doesn't even attempt to have a plot or scripted dialogue, but it was nice to not cringe while fapping.
Deep Throat and Behind the Green Door both had good plots. And the sex was more natural. Not this jump on, stick it in, get off shit that passes for porn today. But then I go back to the Mr Peeper's Series of pseudo porn. LOL
If they didn't "act" and have a "plot" then they would get arrested (as they did in Deep Throat) but since they proves "artistic" merit, they had to let it go. I'll never forget the time I saw Ron Jeremy look at two girls making out, he shrugged his shoulders, bent over, and proceeded to suck his own cock. Priceless. The second most memorable scene was the first time I saw Traci Lords get her 15-year-old cunt fucked. I became obsessed with her. One day I go into the bookstore and half the shelves are empty. I found out she was underage and proceeded to go outside and kick my ass for not buying any of her videos.
OP here. Yeah, Traci Lords was good. I saw one of her early, but legal films recently and I really enjoyed it. I only knew her from some bad sci-fi. For a 26-year-old guy this is all kind of a revelation.
So is anyone still making porn like they used to? The contemporary stuff with a "plot" I've seen has been horrible. It's like they know it's going to be bad, but they actually try to make it worse to be cool. It's basically like if Robert Rodriguez made porn. I even plunked down for the supposedly epic Pirates and overall the acting and dialogue were still pretty bad.
There must be a market for good porno films, right? There's a sub-genre for balloon popping for Christ's sake. So who's serving this market?
